Kendall walked into the monitoring room. "Any changes?" he asked the guy watching the monitors, which showed various parts of the building they were in. The one Kendall was looking at showed Meagan (in the form of Jon) sleeping in the holding area they put her in.
"Yeah. She's acting more and more like a boy, just like you said would happen. How did you know?"
"I've been around long enough to know that this kind of phenomenon can have some ... unintended side-effects. It's what happens when you fool with the laws of nature," Kendall explained.
"This kind of phenomenon?" the guy asked. "You mean there are others?"
"Just keep your eyes on those monitors," Kendall said, avoiding the question.
The guy shrugged, then returned to his duties.
As Agent Kendall left the room, Dr. Morris Bertman nearly collided with him. "Sorry," he told the agent, adjusting his glasses. "We have a problem."
"What is it?" he asked Morris, as they walked to the lab.
"There's been a spike."
"Where?"
"Where do you think? At the Madison house," Morris said.
Kendall pulled out his cellphone and called Agent Folmer. But no one answered. "Damn it," he swore, hanging up. "What the hell are they doing? They're supposed to be watching the house."
"What should we do?" Morris asked.
"Get to that house, that's what. If a spike was detected there, then that means someone is there. Now. We need to get there before they leave. Come on," he said to Morris, who then followed him out of the building.
