Ultimately, all of the occupants of House 38 returned to the living room to try and assess what was going on.
Sarah was the loudest of them. "Look at this," she insisted to the others.
Karyn grinned at her, a bit wickedly. "I think you got exactly what you deserved."
Sarah lunged at her, and Linda pulled her off. "Stop that," she said, firmly. "We're in this together."
"Yes, bad dog," Karyn said.
"Karyn, keep quiet."
"Maybe we should call someone..." Susan said. "Withdraw from this whole thing."
The TV flickered to life again. "We did ask you to try and act your parts," the man said. "Arguing about them will do no good. You have the rest of the day to familiarize yourself with these roles. Tomorrow we will expect everyone to go about their business."
"Are they watching us?" Susan asked.
"Obviously," Karyn replied.
