The chamber door closed, and it flooded with electric-blue light, coupled with a prickling sensation in his skin. It reached a near-blinding intensity, and suddenly Jon couldn't feel his body. This sensation only lasted for a split second, and Jon could feel himself again, but things felt...different. The light receded, the door opened, and Jon stepped out of the chamber and took a look at himself.
As it turned out, he had undergone a transformation similar to Zoe's; he now had a human torso atop the lower body of a giant spider. Jon wasn't sure of the species, but the color was dark grey. He could see the spinnerettes sticking out of the back of the nearly desk-sized back half. He thought about seeing if they worked, but was too weirded out to try.
Another similarity was that he was female.
She had been too preoccupied with the spider thing to notice at first, but when her attention came back around front Jon couldn't not see the two perky, naked breasts attached to her chest. This also at least sort of helped explain the fact that her brown hair now hung down almost to her waist, though that was obviously a cosmetic alteration on top of what they'd already done to her. She gasped, hearing her soft new voice for the first time.
"I-I can't be a girl!" she said, turning to the centaur lady. "Please, you've got to fix this!"
The tech shook her head. "Sorry," she said. "Our policy is that scanner selections are unarguable; otherwise we'd have a whole retreat full of two or three popular species, and nothing else."
"You can handle this, dear," her mom said. "It's just for a couple of weeks, after all."
Jon wanted to argue further, but it was clear that that wasn't going to get her anywhere. If she could just get to the stone, she could fix this, but how could she do that?
While she was pondering, Mikey had scanned and stepped into the chamber, and emerged a few seconds later looking the perfect little sister to Jon; a young spider-girl on the verge of puberty. She, too, was not happy with the result, but she couldn't see a way out of this. While she was vocally expressing her displeasure, Jon's mom and dad went into the chamber andcame out as a pair of nagas, as naked as the rest. That was everybody; Jon wondered what they were going to be doing next.
