Jon and his "new" family left the cabin, then searched for their car. They couldn't spot it right away, because they exited a different cabin than the one they entered. They might have even been on the other side of the lake, for all they knew.
Zoe looked for the car more desperately than the rest of them. She wanted to make contact with her friend Athena, hoping that she could use her knowledge of the occult to get her out of this "experiment". She certainly didn't want to spend the rest of the week as this middle-aged guy. She didn't care what that scientist said about her being confined the rest of the week if she didn't obey the rules. How could they possibly confine her anyway? With this new body, she was probably four times stronger than she used to be.
About twenty seconds into her search, however, she suddenly stopped and heard a voice in her head. "Breaking character." It was a man's voice. Gary Meadows' voice, actually.
Suddenly, she moved towards a silver car that she had never seen before. "I found it," she called out. Then she blinked.
Jon and the rest of his family joined her a few seconds later.
"This isn't our car," Jon said, feeling weird hearing Biff's voice instead of his own.
"This is Lorraine's car," the little boy (who was actually Jon's mom) said. "I've seen her drive ..."
"Are you okay?" Jon asked the boy.
"Sure, Biff," the boy said, this time sounding like a little kid and not Jon's mother. Then the boy blinked. "That was strange. I heard a boy's voice and then I lost control of my body."
"But you're alright now?" Jon asked.
"Yeah. I think so." The boy turned back towards Zoe, who now inhabited Gary Meadows' body. "How did you know that that car belonged to the Meadows family?"
"I was searching for the car and then suddenly a voice in my head said that I was breaking character. Then all of a sudden, I lost control of my body. I walked to this car and called out that I found it."
"It must be some sort of a safety mechanism to keep us in the experiment," Lorraine Meadows (who was actually Jon's father) said.
"Well, if we have to use the Meadows' car, then does that mean we have to live in their house too?" Jon asked.
They all figured that they did.
