As Jon's mind focused a bit more, he heard a couple of guys shout at the goof he had tackled. It was apparently enough to scare the goof away, because Jon saw him get off the ground and dart away in a hurry. Then the two guys gave chase.
Jon felt relieved, but then remembered that the goof had slapped a name tag on him. He began to worry, realizing that he could change any moment and probably become like that woman who he thought was Sarah's mother.
As fear overtook him, he watched a Goth girl approach him. At first, he thought it was Zoe, but that couldn't be. He saw her turn into a little girl. When this new girl got close enough, he realized that it was the woman who yelled for help. It was her face, but certainly not her body or clothes. He figured that she used to be the type of person who wouldn't be caught dead wearing that kind of outfit. But, of course, that person was gone now, right?
"What the fuck are you staring at?" the woman-turned-Goth girl said. Then she turned and walked away. But Jon had just enough time to read her name tag: HI, MY NAME IS SUSAN. Wasn't Sarah's mother's name Susan? Maybe that really was her after all. As he began to feel odd, he wondered how Sarah would react to having a gothic mother, if Susan was even part of that family anymore. That thought sent another wave of fear through him. What if he not only became like Susan, but also thought that he was Sarah's mother?
He slowly moved his head and looked at his chest. On his shirt, he saw the same tag that was on Susan, but it was changing.
