After a few moments, Jane realized something. She didn't have to wait around for Jon. "I'm out of here," she said to Sarah, and vanished into the crowd.
Sarah stood there, unsure of where to go from here. This wasn't what she'd wanted.
Jon had given up looking for his dad. He realized, that if people were changing like his Mom had...he might not even recognize his father if he ran straight into him. He returned to where he'd left his mother to find her gone, but Sarah was still waiting there.
"Where did she go?" He asked.
"She left," Sarah said.
"Why didn't you stop her?"
Sarah looked at him sternly. "What did you expect me to do, Jon? Threaten her? This was her idea, not mine."
"Then why did you stay?"
She looked at him. "Because you asked me to," she said. "I didn't want you to come back and find neither of us here."
"Umm...Sarah..."
Something about that name from him just bothered her. It seemed wrong. "Yes?"
"Are you...umm...all right?" He said.
"You really should have paid attention when this whole thing was explained," Sarah scolded him.
Jane continued through the crowd. She'd been intent on leaving, and wasn't even thinking about where she was going, so she was a bit surprised when she got there.
