As they traveled Mary noticed that Karas shrunk more. Karas's clothes looked like he took his big sisters outfit. She seemed oblivious to it, watching the environment with wonder. No longer a seasoned warrior a starry eyed child sat next to her. Mary thought that the spell picked up of the desires of those closest to Karas. For herself she always desired a girl that she could bring up. She loved her son but she longed for a daughter to dote on. She imagined that Karas would transform into that image if given time.
Karas found herself enraptured by the scenery looking to and fro. She grinned seeing some butterflies floating about some wildflowers. The wildflowers looked so vibrant she wanted to pick some for Mary. She tugged at Mary's coat asking, "Please may we stop so I can get some flowers?" Karas got a plaintive look on her face.
Mary smiled, "You know I thought it might be time for a break and some lunch. How about you pick some flowers while I spread out lunch. Make sure to stay in sight though okay?" Mary enjoyed watching the little girl in her unspoiled innocence. She wondered if Karas the warrior would resurface. The fluctuations between personalities would probably continue until something set her form. Too long in the same form might be a catalyst for the permanent change. The spell continued to fascinate her.
"Okay thank you." As the cart pulled to a stop Karas struggled down not waiting for Mary's help. She dropped down and rushed into the field gathering up any flowers that caught her fancy. She struggled a bit with her dress dragging on the ground not fitting right. By the time she returned Mary had spread a cloth down for them to picnic on. Karas gobbled down the food and water making a mess of herself. Mary wiped her face with a damp cloth too which Karas gave no objection. Karas gathered up a bouquet of flowers from her collection. She presented it to Mary blushing slightly and casting her eyes downward, "For you."
Mary looked at her pleasantly surprised at this gift, "What a thoughtful gift thank you. Now how about you help me pack everything up and we will be on our way." Karas nodded vigorously helping as she could. With a boost from Mary, Karas got onto her seat on the cart. Mary got the wagon on its way soon after.
Karas climbed into the back of the cart with her remaining collection. She played with them making wishes on the petals and putting them in her hair. She crawled back to Mary to show off her flowered hair. Mary gave her approval stroking a stray hair out of Karas's face.
