That was just too weird even for Jon, he looked around to try to find his mother, and spotted her talking with a stranger across the room and started to head toward her.
When he arrived, she looked at him. "I would have thought you would have been mingling right now," she said. "Come on, you don't want to spend the retreat with me, do you?"
He paused. "Well, ummm..."
"You're just nervous," his mother said. "Now, go out there and meet someone interesting," she said.
