Jon didn't know what to do as his parents pushed him off. "Try to meet someone," his mother told him. "That's the point, after all."
He walked away. What was the point? He wondered. If this was some sort of family mixer, why was the entire family separating? Not that he was complaining about it, but he didn't see anyone he immediately recognized, although he hadn't really looked yet.
A very attractive woman, perhaps in her late twenties or early thirties came over. "Hi, Jon." she paused. "You're what...seventeen, eighteen?"
"Sixteen," he said.
She looked intrigued. "You must lead an interesting life," she said.
"Umm...I guess," he said, not sure how to take that.
