Harry was enjoying his auror training. The battle of Hogwarts sometimes felt like a distant memory, but was only two years in the past.
He'd worked harder than he'd believed possible since starting his training. It truly made him appreciate how much he'd slacked off at school, and the patience of Hermione, every time he and Ron and badgered her for help in their studies.
The animagus spell was one of those that few wizards ever achieved. Yet here he was standing in front of his fellow students, the gasp he'd heard as he felt his body shift and change buoying him up.
Looking around he thought at first he'd become a stag like his father. That would have been a nice way to show his respect and appreciation. He felt his huge, mobile neck as he looked around. His hairy back extending further than ever. He caught sight of himself in one of the windows.
The sense of disappointment when he saw that there weren't any antlers made him blow his lips with disappointment.
The class applauded this, assuming Harry was taking on his equine characteristics.
The four students and the qualified auror were surprised but pleased with his achievement.
"Err... Master Conville..." William said a little uncertainly. He couldn't ... wouldn't say anymore... he just pointed.
Harry thought that there might be an imperfection in his spell ... with his body...
Perhaps feeling Harry's worry, Master Conville assured Harry this was quite normal. The gender of one's animagus form was independent of the caster's original.
He relieved... until he thought about what he'd just heard.

He let out a deafening whinny.
