Kayla did Math when she returned to class but it wasn't the math she was supposed to be doing. Instead of trying to work out the curve that would be required to surround the school with the most efficient amount of duct tape, which was supposed to be fun, she was trying to work out exactly how long it would take to do to her what was done.
She did this by looking at her hair and then comparing herself to others around her, a pony tail took 3 seconds, she had counted 6 berets in her hair, plus it was curled. It takes 8 seconds per strain of hair, so that was about 13 minutes to curl, getting the right arrangement would take about 10, plus brushing and spraying of course. So about a half hour to do this, she thought.
She looked around the room, most of these girls didn't care about looks, and didn't have hair like hers. She suddenly felt a leg up on every girl in the class, sure they were going to get some extra credit for doing the duct tape assignment, which she didn't need, but she looked so much better, and for not much effort at all. Oh, but then there was the make up...she wondered how long that would take to do everyday and started doing the math in her head...she had decided she liked the new her and wanted to keep it.
As she stood up from her seat at the end of class she stood a bit taller, prouder so she thought, but in fact it was that she was now wearing sandals with a 2 inch heel. In those new shoes she walked with a sway and a grace unusual for her, she flipped a bit of lightly highlighted curl over her shoulder and turned in her work to the teacher, forgetting that it wouldn't be the level or type that would impress him till she was out the door. She almost turned around in the hall to go and get it when she realized her mistake, but then thought it wasn't really worth it, she'd rather talk to her friends and see what they thought of this strange transformation.
