The Gibsons spent the rest of the weekend redecorating Keira and Jonchelle’s bedrooms. They first took out everything that they didn’t want, marked them for storage and then got started on the painting.
Everyone, even Zachary, pitched in, as they wanted to get the rooms done as quickly as possible. Rose made some sandwiches for lunch before they got back to decorating. Jonchelle was glad that she hadn’t worn anything fancier than the sweater, as it was a very messy job and the sweater quickly got covered in paint stains.
While they waited for the paint to dry, Jonchelle gave Vanessa a call and asked if she wanted to hang out. Unsurprisingly, Vanessa was also redecorating her room, but she was happy to take a break, so Jonchelle gave her her address and Vanessa promised to be over as soon as she could.
Vanessa then spent the rest of the afternoon teaching Jonchelle girl stuff, things that would help her to better pass as a girl: how she walked, how she carried herself. While Rose got a cookbook out and started preparing dinner, Vanessa and Jonchelle, exhausted from the day’s activities, decided to curl up together in front of the TV.
Snuggling up to Vanessa, Jonchelle started to feel a little sleepy. As Vanessa gently stroked her hair, Jonchelle struggled to stay awake.
I could get used to this, she thought.
