Rika and Mikey stared at their friend's pregnant belly. Their, up until a moment ago, very male friend who was now tearing up
"Fucking hormones.." said Davonne wiping away some tears. Rika got out of the pool and gave her friend a hug. Mikey got up to do the same. He felt a bit weird doing it as a guy, so he took off the necklace and hugged her friend.
"It's going to be OK Davis," said Michelle.
"Thanks guys..."
"When you are a guy, your pregnancy get 'paused' according to the guy in Greece. But if you don't use the necklace for a year, you'll forget about it." offered Michelle.
"I wouldn't mind forgetting about this, " said Davonne rubbing her belly.
"But will the pregnancy 'forget' you? If you use it again, you may continue where you left off. Who's the dad?" asked Rika put her hand on her friend's slight bump.
"One of the guys I had sex with last summer. I wasn't thinking about protection."
"You shouldn't have had to. Whenever I become a girl, my cycle starts anew, it's how I avoid periods." said Michelle
"Maybe it 'restarts' the cycle differently for each person?" offered Rika.
"So it started me at 'make me pregnant' each time?"
"Maybe? It's called ovulation by the way," shrugged Rika.
"Well, this guy is never ovulating again," countered Davonne as he was about to take off the necklace. There was a squeal behind the girls and Rika's mom came out and quickly walked up to Davis and put her hand on his stomach.
"Davonne, you are carrying so well and look so cute in that bathing suit! I'm jealous." said Mrs. Sato.
"Thanks?" replied Davis.
"How's your morning sickness? Rika tells me nothing," guiding Davis to a chair to sit and talk.
"I don't have it now," said Davis taking a seat.
"Your breasts are looking a bit bigger. Are you lactating yet?"
"Huh?" replied Davis confused, Mrs Sato never talked about this stuff with the boys before. Michelle and Rika were making gestures indicating stuff coming out of their breasts. They started laughing.
"When I was a few months into my pregnancy with Rika, my breasts got bigger and I started to make some milk. It was messy. You look really good Davonne. I do worry about your delivery though. Your hips aren't as wide as Rika's or Michelle's, so you may have some trouble pushing. Do you think your hips are getting wider? They are supposed to do that." Davis just stared at Mrs. Sato as put her hands on his hips as she continued, "If your pelvis is sore, make sure to stretch. Actually, come with me, I have something for you." She grabbed Davis's hand and took him into the house. The two others stared at Davis as his hips swayed.
"I think his hips are about the same," said Rika.
"Agreed," replied Michelle, giggling
"That was weird. My mom is all about me studying, and sometimes make comments about my figure when I am Rika,but that was baby-mania."
"Well, something to look forward for you when you get knocked up," joked Michelle
"Pregnancy? Hard pass. When I was in Japan my first summer as Rika, I went down a rabbit hole during that first period. All the stuff that happens to you when you are pregnant is scary. Plus, I'm Henry most of the time. Would you want to be pregnant?"
"Never really thought about it since sex ed in middle school." After that Rika was called up by her mom to help Davonne with something. Michelle grabbed her necklace and shirt cover and went back home. He called Diane on the way back and told her the news, and she replied she thought Davis may have been expecting based on some of the questions/comments he made over the last few months.
Diane and Mikey went to NYC around the same time Henry flew out to Washington. Diane took to law like a fish to water. Mikey took some time to get used to the solar tech world, but once he understood, he found it fascinating. Thankfully their internships had a small stipend. When the two weren't working, they were exploring the city as a couple. They tried some restaurants, won the lotto once for Broadway tickets. They even got a couple fake IDs and checked out some clubs and bars. When one of them was a guy, they were usually left alone. The few times they went out as the girls, they got hit on every time. They got some free drinks, but had to talk to some "bros" they would rather have not met. One even grabbed Michelle ass, which led to a punch. Davis came over a few times and would crash on the couch. Diane and Mikey drove to a couple colleges to tour the grounds.
All too quickly, the summer was over and senior year started.
