From that strange meeting Nadine went home, and home was strange for a little while. It took time to get used to the new role her dad played, sometimes unwarrented he would go into preacher mode and it would bug her. She wanted that at church, not before she went to bed, or went on a date, or as she went off to school.
Time passed, maybe she became a cheerleader, she probably did, for the sake if this story it doesn't really matter. She dated a bit, her first kiss was after homecoming junior year, she kissed him back and tried not to let on it was her first, she liked it and had no problem doing it again later. She enjoyed the end of high school, mostly forgetting what the mad woman had said, it became a spooky memory. She got used to being pretty, it took time, but by the time she graduated she had settled into the life of a high school princess, she only spent two weeks of senior year without a boyfriend, mainly because she couldn't find a real relationship in high school guys, though what she could find was at the very least fun. By the time she reached college she was used to the girl in the mirror and had even become a little dissatisfied with certain parts of herself. She was pretty, but she wasn't the MOST pretty, there were others that had more than she did, and she spent some effort trying not to envy them. Her boobs weren't as big, her hair wasn't as sexy, she had a great smile, but wanted better eyes, or at least wished at times she had spent more time on learning all the tricks to make up. As it was her best feature was her figure, and as the freshman fiffteen hit, she began to feel that threatened.
As for Church she went every week, in part because it was a family thing now, and in part because she liked it. Over time the levels of that would shift in one direction, but she would refuse to agknowlege it, she had an image as the "good girl" and she wanted to keep that up if nothing else.
College was different though, at college she was alone, and she missed once or twice. She was shocked to find that she didn't miss it. But it was at the end of a months worth of missing church, something she felt bad about but not so bad, that something amazing happened. The spell was still active after all.
