After they ate, Jen and Karyn had excused themselves. Jade wasn't surprised. They had been close before. According to her research, they were even closer now. Nearly the stereotypical inseparable BFF's.
Jade and Delia had made it halfway back to Jade's house when she got a text from Randi, asking if it was still alright if she came over. Jade responded that it was fine, and the pair rushed to make it back before she arrived.
As it was, they arrived at the same time.
"Your parents are out again?" Randi asked as Jade let them in.
"Yes. Surprisingly, it's not work related tonight. They are at a dinner party." Jade said.
"At lease they're not baring down on you. I swear, my mom barely knew I existed before all of this, now I can barely get her to leave me alone." Randi said.
"So, you were with her today?" Delia asked.
"Yeah, dress shopping." Randi replied. "I've barely had this body more than a day, and it already feels violated. I mean, the things they do to get measurements..."
"This was for your cousins wedding, yes?" Jade asked. "You're a bridesmaid, if I recall correctly."
Randi's eyes narrowed. "Yeah, right." she said. "How did you..."
"The magic seems to let us recall aspects of our new lives. I really should have just sent a mass text about this."
Randi nodded a bit. "I...guess that kind of makes sense." she said.
"We also got invited to one of Steve Farber's parties!" Delia said.
"So? That's..." Randi paused, then lowered her head. "Normal for just me, I guess. Though even then, I suppose it wouldn't be the same."
"I highly doubt it." Jade said. "Frankly, I'm hoping for a solution to all of this long before next weekend occurs."
"Well, regardless of if this is fixed or not, I wouldn't be able to go. Even as a guy I was stuck going to this wedding."
"Well, the Facebook invite just came through. When's the wedding?" Delia asked.
"Saturday, why?"
"Party's on Sunday. Next week is a long weekend." Delia replied. "Kind of stupid, considering we just had a vacation."
"Don't complain about more time off." Randi said. "Well, even still I'm not sure I'd want to go like this. Steve's parties tend to be kind of..."
"Idiotic?" Jade suggested.
"I was going to say intense, but idiotic can work sometimes, too." Randi said, smiling. "They tend to end up a bit out of control."
"It still might be fun to check out." Delia said.
"Are you...considering going?" Randi asked.
"Well, kind of. If we're still like this next weekend, then why not?"
"Why would you want to. Surely you've heard what those parties are like."
"I have, but...like I said earlier, I've never been invited to anything like that. It might be nice to check out."
Randi shrugged. "I guess I can see your point, but Steve always has all of the jocks there, and all of us, looking like we do now? That's just asking for a lot of attention that we won't want."
"Still sounds like it might be fun to check out..." Delia said.
"Regardless." Jade interrupted. "There is time to discuss this later. If it's even an issue. We should discuss how we're going to deal with our current situation."
"I don't know how much more there is to discuss. We'll probably have to wait until tomorrow, at least, to learn anything else. Sarah's probably our best chance out of all of this."
"I suppose that's true, but...I don't know. Leaving something like this unattended, with no resolution in sight?" Jade said.
"Stressing about it's not going to help anything, Jade. Can we just, I don't know, do something to relax? After this afternoon, I just want to not think about anything." Randi said.
"Maybe we can watch a movie?" Delia asked, pointing to the large TV in the living room.
Jade opened her mouth, then let out a sigh. "Sure, if you two want to pick something, I'll make some popcorn."
