Hawaii- part 1

There was some debate about who was going to go on the trip, at first it only looked like Sarah was going. The trip wasn't until late in the summer, the final two weeks of July, which meant it hung over the heads of the girls all summer long, it was always coming, but not yet here. If you wanted to say yes or no to it, you had to wait till it came.

At first it was only Sarah, then Karyn decided to go as well. Sarah and Karyn had become friends of a sort, people had started calling them the twins. Karyn liked the comparison, because she really did see Sarah as beautiful, otherwise she wouldn't have wished to look more like her. Sarah liked it because it made her feel like she had a sidekick or constant wing woman at her side, but as they hung out more, and Karyn got more comfortable in her new role as a some what popular possible cheerleader Sarah began to see in Karyn what other people saw in her, that she was becoming a beautiful confident girl, and finally Sarah understood what everyone else had been saying when they called her and Karyn "the twins" and she grew to like it and even to see Karyn as an equal.

This pulled Karyn more towards the cheerleader side of things, it felt nice to have a friend to go through something with, it felt exciting to be given the opportunity to try something new and exclusive, and having tried on one of Sarah's old cheerleading outfits, Karyn actually began to see that she may fit into that mold. So she took a chance and signed up for Hawaii, what's the worse that could happen?

This caused problems, on the other end of Karyn was Jen, still adjusting to her change, still obsessively working to change things back, to find a way around the magic. Jen had not taken a flier, had no plans to participate in the little game that Ms. Holloway was playing. She thought she could beat it but as the summer went on it was beating her. She made a wish on her stone not to get fat, but soon after fell ill with a summer cold, she didn't get fat, but she lost weight like crazy as she couldn't keep food down. She never felt like doing anything, and by the end of June had gone from an average girl to very thin. She wished to feel better, and did get better, but couldn't gain the weight back, her other wish didn't allow her to gain fat. This left her exhausted all the time, with no energy for anything, pale from never going out and alone because everyone else was alway for the summer. It made it hard for Karyn to hang out with her, and from Karyn's view point it was the stone that was doing this to Jen, that and her poorly worded wishes. So finally, after a fight were Karyn accused Jen of giving in, and to be fair, she was going with the flow more than any other girl, her clothing had changed, she became much harder to get ahold of because she was always out, she seemed content with the changes in her life, and wished that Jen would get on the same page. So Karyn took the stone, hid it. She didn't want things to change and in her mind the only way things were going to get better for Jen was if she got with the program. It was a stand off.

Karyn and Sarah waited at the airport to see if anyone else was coming. First came Miranda, who seemed less gruff, but mostly the same as she was, she was coming to see what it was like, to try to be the best at this sport. She didn't seem fully on board, but she was willing to give it a shot. They waited for more, but none came. Karyn felt a sadness to not see Jen, she thought this was her real chance to try to improve things for once.
Ms. Holloway was the last to show, give them their tickets and report that the other girls were having "very productive summer's". They then got on the plane for a flight of some 6-7 hours.

When they arrived they got a surprise, waiting at the gate was the new Nadine, in a stylish take on a tank top, the best I can do to describe it is a mix between a blouse and a tank top but cut short around the midsection. She also wore sunglasses and had her cut into a short and wavy style, then the glasses came off and she smiled that knowing smile which told so little while revealing a different person behind those eyes than the girl they knew two months before. There was a moment of amazement as the girls stared at what had become of the shy girl they once knew, broken by Nadine's voice "Paris est d'accord avec moi" in perfect french she continued as she walked up to hug them " Je suis si heureux de vous voir les filles! vous regardez fantastique!" She seemed quite taken with how Karyn had dressed. It was beginning to become surreal. Karyn asked "Have you forgotten how to speak english?"

At that Nadine stopped, readjusted her sunglasses and gave a wink. Then in her own voice, "Of course I haven't silly! but I've learned so much I thought I would show off a bit, it's great to see you! Are you excited for this thing?" She spoke now with an air of familiarity as if she had always been friends with these people, as if things had always been this way.

"We are, yes... a little surprised to see you here though."

"Oh, well Paris was defiantly life changing, I can tell you about that later. So much to tell, but I had a....what's it called...moment of clarity and decided to come here and check it out, and now here we are!" This was a couple of half truths mixed together to make a story, but it was just believable enough. Still for the rest of the girls it took a couple days to get used to this new Nadine, who now enjoyed bouts of joyful french thrown in with her conversations.

They went to a hotel and settled in, sharing rooms. Miranda and Sarah and Karyn and Nadine. The next day a strange two weeks would begin, it was Cheer camp, and they were in the middle of the ocean.
