Ren fest.

For Trinity the least offensive thing on the table was working the local Ren Fest, there was at least an element of the gothic for here there, something outlandish and strange to latch onto. The dress was something that, while feminine at least had an element of her personality to it. She didn't like having to wear a corset for what it did, and it wasn't comfortable at all, but she did for the fact that she felt like in wearing it, in some way it was gothic enough to be a "fuck you" to the whole Cheerleader look that was expected of her. It got her better tips too.

"Huzzah for the tipper!" was a phrase that she would have gotten tired of had it not been so lucrative to yell.

As a compromise it had it's downfalls, she didn't like having to speak "ye Olde English" at first, and would constantly be nagged by the girl she was saddled with as a partner in her booth to "stay in character". This girl, a pretty but mousy brunette from the next town over, named Sadie was very into what she did, she knew how to play the part and would constantly offer advise on how to do it better, how to really get into character. At first Trinity didn't have any idea what was meant by that, all she had was a corset, a fancy hat with a feather in it, and a dress to go over it, but as the summer dragged on for the 8 weekends that the festival lasted, she made her little improvements, she started to make up stories about who she was becoming when she went into the magical world that existed beyond the gates. At first she was just a poor shop girl, then as she learned, a shoppe wench, she didn't know how to talk, but was quickly sat down by Sadie and educated. First there was make up and hair, she had to learn how to look like she had been in the mud and not showered for a good week without actually having to do that. Trinity had been against the idea of make up for most of the time she had been a her, only using it that one time to cover up her black eye from her ill fated mosh pit expedition. This felt different though, it was being used to make her less pretty, not more, so she went along with it and after a few weeks she knew the ins and outs of how to do it herself. The hair was no different, it turns out she had great hair for playing with, thick and long enough for all sorts of strange designs, and she found braiding it was a great way to keep it out of the way, so she learned that too.

Then there was her character, being able to be someone else was liberating and she soon found that "kitchen wench" wasn't enough, came to these places for the experience and even though her rack got Trinity tips, Sadie always did better, and Sadie made sure to let her know, it was because Sadie had a character and she was selling it. So one weekend Trinity took all the money she made that weekend and she went shopping about the "ye olde town". The goal was to become an Arya Stark type girl, but the end result of that was that she looked ridiculous, nobody expected this curvaceous girl serving beer to be an assassin, and when she pushed the character on people it tended to intimidate them. That day she got very few tips, and felt horrible by the end of it and angry, she had spent the day essentially chasing away money in the pursuit of "being more badass". So the next day she returned what she could and started over, this time with Sadie's help. What resulted, what she was told would get her tips, was a sexy gypsy princess, she had her hair dyed black and curled, wore jewelry, and make up to make her look alluring, she was given a tambourine to walk around with, she took on an accent and an attitude. It became her mission to seduce men out of their money. By the 5th week she had gotten being Jasmine the gypsy princess down to an art and was taking home nearly 500 dollars a day. By accident she perfected the art of flirting, and of dancing in the street to a music she made up in her head, she found people liked that and she could then take tips for it. Over the course of the summer, dancing in the heat for the amusement of others her skin went from pale, to sunkissed, to finally a tan that would befit a gypsy, by the time she finally noticed that she was at least 4 shades darker than normal she found it fit the character so she kept it up. Then there was the dancing, she went from clumsy to a sort of graceful tripping, to actually style over the course of three weeks, to the point where she found herself practicing at home dance steps. She found reasons to leave her little beer turn style to walk around with the people, her fans, she found herself liking the attention, of being able to escape into this "other person" and profit from it, she was having the time of her life.

The final weekend came for her with reluctance, she didn't want this summer to end, nor go back to school. She had not seen any of the girls in 9 weeks and school was to start in 2, when they would see her next they would not recognize Trinity, once a goth, now a gypsy, she didn't want to leave the part, and so the part came along with her.
