Trinity looked down at her buzzing phone, and sighed. She accepted the call, and lifted the phone to her ear.
"About time you picked up the phone, Trinity." Zoe said on the other end of the line.
"Ever occur to you that I may have been busy?" Trinity asked.
"The only other reason you'd be busy would be to hang out with my sister and the rest of them. And fuck that, we called dibs on you for today." Zoe responded.
"Listen, brat, I can have other things come up." Trinity said, getting annoyed.
"Whatever. You want us to come to you, or do you want to meet us at my place? The show starts at 8, so we should probably leave at 7." Zoe said.
"Yeah, yeah. I gotta make sure I can get my dad's car. Once I know for sure, I'll be in touch." Trinity said.
"You better be." Zoe responded. "If Athena and I have to track you down, we're gonna make you pay."
"I'd like to see you try. Later." Trinity hung up her phone, shaking her head.
Initially, when she learned about the concert, she didn't want to go. Not because she didn't like the band, she had seen them a few times and they were fine. Rather, it was because this had been a 'girl's night' that Zoe, Athena, and a few others had planned months back. Her inclusion cemented that she was now 'one of the girls'.
But, after dealing with Sarah and the others for as long as she had, Trinity had some aggression to work out. Maybe a night of metal and moshing would help her do just that.
"Gonna have to go extra hard, if I have to deal with them tomorrow." she said to herself.
She arrived home after a 20 minute walk to find her father relaxing in the living room.
"Have a good time at the mall?" he asked.
"Not really." she responded, going to the kitchen and grabbing a bottle of water. "Hey, I told you about that show tonight, right?" she asked.
"Yeah, you did..." her father responded. She walked into the living room in time to see him lean forward. "Why?"
"Well Zoe, Athena, and myself need a way to get there. I was hoping I could borrow your ride." Trinity said, sitting on the couch next to her father.
"And you wait until the day of the show to ask? What if I needed it?"
"What do you need it for? You never go anywhere." Trinity responded.
"First time for everything, little girl." Mr. Blake said. He then seemed to mull it over for a second. "Promise me you'll be home at a reasonable hour, and you'll take care of the car?"
"Of course." Trinity said, putting on her nicest voice.
"Hmmm, I don't really believe that answer..." Mr. Blake said, handing the keys over.
"Hey, if I smash it up, I can't use it either."
"I suppose that's true."
"Thanks, dad." Trinity said, giving her father a kiss on the cheek and heading up to her room. She was turning the knob to enter when she realized what she did. What the fuck was that...?
