Jen and Karyn were lucky enough to catch the bus at the stop just outside the mall, and took it to the nearest stop to Jen's house. Thanks to this, it only took them about half an hour to get there.
They ran inside, and up to Jen's room. Once they got into her room, Jen removed the stone from the box.
"Alright, time to figure some things out." Jen said. "I wish to if Sarah is trying to manipulate us with the way she was acting at the mall."
The stone flashed, and Jen nodded.
"Well?" Karyn asked.
"The stone says that she was sincere." Jen said. "I wish to know if Ms. Holloway's magic affected Sarah as well as us."
Again, the stone flashed. "It did." Jen said. "I wish to know how, exactly, Ms. Holloway's magic affected Sarah."
This time, the stone didn't flash. "I wish to know why that wish didn't work." The stone flashed. "Ms. Holloway's magic is blocking me from knowing what it did."
"So...what should we do? About the Sarah situation, I mean." Karyn asked.
"Well...she was being honest at the mall..." Jen said. "And if Ms. Holloway's magic changed her, it's no more fair to hate her than if we were to change her with the stone."
"But none of us have had our minds messed with. At least, not to that degree." Karyn said.
"But, Ms. Holloway did insinuate that she could do things like that." Jen said. "So, maybe she decided to do so to Sarah. Either way, I think we should go back."
"Okay." Karyn said.
Jen placed the stone back in the box. Barely holding the lid open so that she could touch it, she said "I wish that Karyn and I were back at the mall."
The stone flashed, and the two girls disappeared. The lid on the box slammed shut, leaving the stone once again protected.
The next thing they knew, Jen and Karyn were back at the mall. Jen pulled out her phone, and quickly went to her contacts. She lifted it to her ear, and waited for her call to be answered.
"Hi, Sarah. Are you still here at the mall?"
