Sarah sat in her room, thinking over the events of the day. When she had heard the rest of the squad had been caught doing drugs, she had been hurt. Not just because they were her team mates, but because they were her friends. She felt betrayed that they would all do something so idiotic, and jeopardize their futures as well as their squad. Many had been from well off families, and had left town quickly to avoid scandal.
And then, almost as if by divine intervention, Ms. Holloway approached her, and offered a solution. New team mates, and new friends. Sarah was weary, but Ms. Holloway swore that her methods would work. And she had seen first hand that they could.
Sarah...would definitely not have chosen the members of her class that were chosen, but Ms. Holloway said that fate needed to decide who would fill the voids in the squad, and Sarah's social circle. This was all done under the condition that Sarah not question Ms. Holloway's methods.
And so, Sarah leapt head first into the plan. However, everyone chosen were very different from Sarah. Hell, most of them had been male, and the two who hadn't been had been two of the people with the strongest negative opinions of Sarah in the whole school.
But, Ms. Holloway swore that this would work. She had promised it. All Sarah had to do was put in the effort. Initially, Sarah was a bit confused by this. Especially when Ms. Holloway said that the seeds had already been planted. But, a little digging revealed what she had meant.
Sarah pulled out her phone again and looked through the contacts list. There, she saw the names of all of the prospective new cheer leaders. Once she had seen that, she decided to check Facebook to see what it would reveal, and she was pleased to see a large number of pictures of the group all together.
It was a conversation with Biff, however, that cemented her hunch.
"You and Holloway rigged that raffle, right?" he had asked her earlier in the night. "I mean, every one of the girls who was picked has been a friend of yours for years."
Sarah smiled at that. Many of the old cheer leaders had followed Sarah's lead, but could hardly have been considered friends. Tiffany Sanders was the closest to that title, and even she was iffy.
If Ms. Holloway's magic ran as deeply as Sarah was hoping, then the squad would be even stronger than before. And she would have a tight knit group of friends...even if they came from lesser stock.
"I just need to work toward this." Sarah said. "And if there's one thing a McMillan knows how to do, it's work toward what they want."
Sarah looked at her clock. 10:13 PM. She decided to get ready for bed now. She would need to get up early if she was to do what she needed to tomorrow.
"You've got a big weekend ahead of you, Sarah." she said to herself. "But it'll be worth it. I hope..."
