The choice
Karyn reflected on her choice, once again she was the odd mix of the two girls, the idealized and refined bombshell Kara, and the energetic and joyful wild girl who was more herself if a bit accentuated. Both had ups and downs.
Kara was everything she would want to be, she was better than Karyn could ever hope to be. Karyn could be pretty, even beautiful if she really put the work in, but she was never going to be gorgeous like came naturally to Kara. There was also the confidence that she felt as Kara, nothing seemed impossible, she was the leader, the desired one, the alpha without challenger. Kara was a empress, who ruled by right of her natural ability and beauty.
Karyn on the other hand was goofball, a wild child, more likely to get into trouble and then deal with whatever happen. Kara was prettier sure, but she was also confined by her manners and rules, Kara had to be perfect, which was a burden that Karyn didn't have. It allowed her to be more spontaneous. To have more fun with life. She felt no fear, just a drive for adventure and joy. It was like having all of who she was already on fire. She could deal with being cute, she didn't want the burden of Kara's crown, to have to share her life with someone else, even if it was someone who had her life made like Sarah. Karyn wanted to be herself. But there is a cost to all magic....
"I think I'd rather be me. I pick this one." Karyn said, pointing at the wild red head in the mirror. She felt more and more like her as she looked in the mirror, as she felt something within her scream in indignant rage, that was the Sarah in her, upset that she had lost out.
"Ok then...I'll will try."
and with that a whipping whirling feeling took over...it didn't feel right.
"wait...try....you can do this right?"
There was no answer, which filled Karyn with dread. Ms. Holloway was too busy concentrating on her work to tell her that she was going to have to remove that part of Sarah which had become bonded to Karyn because of her wish from her in order for this to work. It would have been much simpler for her to just give in, more of what made Sarah such a pretty and perfect cheerleader could always be added, making Karyn into Kara, that was what she had hoped for, but now she was forced to try and draw that part of this girl out.
Karyn felt torn asunder, deconstructed, it was like watching a car be taken down to all of its parts but instead it was personality which was being laid out. She became no one, just parts of other people who had the same likes and dislikes and feelings about things. She was a collection of memories, then no even that. For a moment she thought she was Kara....then Karyn....then she wasn't sure....parts of herself seemed to blink in and out....seemed to mix together like cookie dough....and then she found herself on the floor of a Great Clips, next to a passed out old woman....She found a mirror and saw an unfamiliar face.
