Jenny and Karyn were walking out of the gym and to the door, Karyn was concerned over Jen and how she was taking the changes. The only change to Karyn, as far as she could tell at the time, was she might have lost 10 pounds....she also felt, perkier...hard to say exactly but that was nothing compared to what Jen had been through. Jen walked like a completely different person, she had a sway to her step, a natural grace about her. Karyn wanted to bring this up, but feared that she might be walking the same way, she wasn't sure. This was her walk, it was how she always walked...at least she thought it was. Jenny on the other hand seemed to be taking it in stride, probably boostered by the idea that at home sat a solution to all these problems, and she also felt that same perkiness that Karyn did, a sort of happy glow, like the sound of a giggle.
As they made their way out into the parking lot, they saw Ms. Holloway going to her car. She waved them over and for some reason they came.
I just want to say how great I think this year is going to be for the both of you. I know this must be a lot to take in, particularlly for you Jenny, but if you trust me and go with the flow, I think you will find this to be one of the best expericances of your life." She pitched to them. She seemed to be so full of confidence that it leaked over everything about it, like an over full glass.
Karyn, if I could have a word with you for a mintue." She finished.
"Anything you have to say to me you can say to her, we've been besties since before the change." despite the fact that the old Karyn would never have used the term "besties" for her and Jon, Karyn did say this.
It's really just for you, Sorry Jenny, she'll catch up with you." Ms. Holloway turned to Jenny "You really turned out great. I do hope you decide to join our little team, cause your just perfect for it." She touched Jennys chin as she said this, making her look into her eyes. Jenny had never been short before, but now had lost a couple inches of height. Jenny for some reason turned to leave. "I'll see you later Karyn. We'll catch up at my house." and Jenny walked off.
Once Jenny was a fair step away Ms. Holloway turned her attention back to Karyn.
She may be perfect for this but we both know who the natural at it is." She looked Karyn up and down, like a judge at a pony show. "You've been wasting this on whatever, but it's time you made use of it, you have more than simply potential, you already are a cheerleader, you just haven't had the right push in that direction."
Karyn was embarssed by being looked at like that. "Thanks I guess" Karyn stammered in response.
" For example your hair. Let it down for me."
Karyn pulled her hair out of it's ponytail. It fell over her shoulders, long and blond and in the same style as Sarahs.
"You'll need to get it cut, we can't have too people with the same style on the team, and we both know Sarah isn't going to change."
Ok" Karyn responded.
Fine, this weekend then, I'll join you to make sure it's what we want."
Ok, well I better catch up with Jenny." Karyn tried to excuse herself.
Oh one last thing Karyn. I don't know if you use magic, or if you dye your hair, but when I touched you the magic wanted to change you into a red head of sorts, you know the type. wild curly mane, green eyes, pale skin and freakles....anyway clearly it didn't. Just if you have been using for up keep or whatever, stop. Mixing magics can be a dangerous thing, you can't control it, and who knows what you might become. " Ms. Holloway gave Karyn a knowing glance, one that was forbidding and dreadful, but also had a glaze of concern and kindness on the surface of it."
Ok, I'll stop" Karyn said without thinking....She just wanted to get away. "i've really got to go."
And so she went, running after Jenny, this may have ruined everything.
