After Ms. Holloway and Sarah left the room, the space surrounding the teacher began to shimmer and distort, and when it was normal again, Ms. Holloway was gone, replaced by a man instead.
Sarah didn't look shocked, just a little uneasy.
"Oh, don't be so apprehensive, Sarah," the man said. "You wanted new teammates and that's what I've given you. Now ..." he said, smiling. "... it's my turn. You wanted new cheerleaders and I want new football players. Come on," he said, gesturing to Sarah to come with him.
"Yes, Mr. Blankman," Sarah said, walking by his side. As they walked, they passed by a flier on the UPCOMING EVENTS bulletin board in the hallway. It was for a football tryout, which was being held in the weight room. And it was there where all the rejects from the cheerleader tryouts were. They all stood around, wondering why they had left the gym, only to all gather in the weight room, instead of heading home.
A door opened and all the students turned to see Sarah McMillan and the new football coach/physical education teacher they knew as Mr. Blankman walk into the room.
"Welcome, students. We are so happy to see such a large turnout of our junior class taking an interest in playing football," Mr. Blankman said.
Many of the students, especially the girls, were complaining about this. They didn't want to be football players and they had no idea why they were compelled to come here.
The door opened again and Biff Meadows (the school's star football player) ran in and stood next to Sarah, his girlfriend. "Sorry I'm late. Have you started choosing yet?"
"Not yet, Mr. Meadows," the teacher said. "But we're just about to."
