Even though she had told Zoe to come to her house, Athena was still somewhat surprised to see her at her doorstep. The thing that was in her that used to be Sarah told her that she didn't hang out with that type of girl. She was above that nonsense and darkness, but she pushed that aside, for the part that was herself knew that this was her friend and she was happy to see her.

"Oh thank goddess, you came!" Athena said, sounding a little more like normal. "Come to my room. I've got a lot to tell you."

Zoe came in and then followed Athena to her bedroom. "So, what happened?" she asked, walking into the room. Just like everything else in town, nothing had changed. Whatever happened to change Athena, Randy, Leonard, Cassandra, and Karyn into cheerleaders, it didn't change anything except for their bodies. And no one's memories had changed either. The town would have to get used to he new cheerleader recruits just as much as the recruits would themselves.

"This happened," Athena answered, holding out the blindfold that Sarah had worn when she was spinning and pointing.

"I hated Sarah. She was a total bitch, and she was never going to pay for it. She had everything, money, power, people listened to her and would do what she said because she was cunning or simply because she was hot and knew how to use it and she made all of us feel like shit."

"So," Athena continued. "Last night, I cast a spell. Over the past few months I've been courting the Goddess Justice to free us from her tyranny, and I woke up with this in bed with me this morning." She held out the blindfold.

"It's the blindfold that covers the eyes of justice! But I know better than to use it. Magic like that burns a person up, so I gave it to Sarah and told her it could help her make the perfect squad."

"But then you got picked and it backfired," Zoe said, understanding the situation and feeling a lot of relief. Her friend had done a good thing. It just hadn't gone as well as she might have hoped.

Athena nodded. "And now here I am. My spell took out Sarah. She's gone now, but someone apparently had to take her place, so to speak. Someone had to absorb most of her persona. And that person turned out to be me, probably because I was the first one to be changed." She paused. "I'm the new Sarah."

"So what about the others?" Zoe asked. "If part of Sarah is in you, do they have the rest of her in them? Or did that part just vanish along with Sarah herself?"

"Sarah's in there," Athena said. "They all have parts of her somewhere inside of them. It's the thing that's made them what they are now, and it's the reason why I sent them home, so they can come to grips with having a part of her in their lives."

"I think I understand ... but what does that mean for you? Do you like this? Do really like being like Sarah?" asked Zoe.

"It's growing on me. It's different. But I guess it's okay." Athena tried to make it sound like she liked it less than she actually did. She didn't want to alienate her friend, but she at least had to admit it to herself that she preferred her new life over her old one. A lot of Sarah was in her and that part of her wanted to keep this life more than anything. But there was still enough of her original persona within her to want to keep Zoe as a close friend, despite their social differences.

"So, are you going to change everything around here, or keep everything the same?" Zoe asked, referring to Athena's room and clothing, which (since reality hadn't changed for any of the new recruits) was still definitely gothic.
