Right after the cheerleader tryouts, Athena left the field with Sarah McMillan's boyfriend Biff Meadows, heading to his car. At first, Biff was dismayed over the apparent death of his girlfriend, but the more he took notice of Athena, the more he realized that she had all the best qualities that Sarah had when she was alive. And just like with Sarah, Biff had to have her.
She didn't know it yet, but with her new personality and the fact that she was now the head cheerleader, Athena would inherit the role of queen of the school and everything else that came with it, including dating the star quarterback of the football team. It was a little cliche, but she quickly found out that Biff was a good kisser, and they looked good together, so ...
Things had not gone the way she thought they would, and yet, she was happy with the result. She felt powerful as she watched her squad (she was thinking of them as her's) leave the field early, because she had said it was a good idea to do so. She liked how everyone was looking to her and at her, how her now-tanned skin matched her now-blue eyes and golden hair, which had become highlighted and styled since Sarah had departed, leaving to her the mantle of queen of the school.
Biff pulled his car up to Athena's house and she got out. Then she kissed Biff "good night" and went up to her front door.
She caught a glimpse of herself in a full-body mirror as she walked into her house. She looked like a golden version of her former self - her hair longer, her skin firm and supple, and her body, which was always attractive, was finally exposed to being sexy as well. She liked her new look and she liked what it got her.
After she went to her bedroom, she answered some texts she was constantly receiving from some of the other cheerleaders and then decided to tie up one final loose end. She needed to call Zoe and explain exactly what she had done, and try to convince her how they would move on from here with their friendship.
She tried, but there was no response. She called again and got Zoe's mother, telling her that Zoe wasn't there. A few minutes later, she decided to leave Zoe a text message. But still, there was no reply.
But then, about fifteen minutes later, she heard a knock at the door. It was Zoe.
