Nicole grabbed the Fat Gun while Brad grabbed the Babe Gun. They then turned and left Gladys Brewer and Becky Rodder as quickly as they could. Nicole, being unused to being fat, moved a bit slower.
But they were soon out of sight and on their way back to the Principal's office. It was then that Nicole received a message on her cell phone.
It was a message from Sarah, saying that she'd met Karyn and Karyn had told her how it all started.
As soon as they entered the Principal's office, Nicole immediately called Sarah on the phone. Melissa Smith and Kyla Leeson were still present, sitting on chairs nearby and avoiding looking at each other. Kyla was clearly feeling guilty about zapping Melissa with the Fat Gun, and Melissa was still clearly upset.
Also present was a nine-year old boy and a black cheerleader Nicole didn't recognize.
Nicole, however, needed to call Sarah right away. "Sarah, where are you? We've made some progress. We found a Transformation Gun that might turn Melissa back to normal, but something happened."
Sarah's voice on the other end spoke up. "I'm on the street. I got rid of the Random Gun."
"What? How?" Nicole asked.
Sarah recounted the story of how Mrs. Williams had shot Reggie with the Random Gun and turned the former football player into a black girl and a cheerleader. Biff had also been zapped and turned into a nine year old boy. Sarah and Mrs. Williams had fought over the Random Gun, and it had gone off, turning Mrs. Williams into a dried up old man who hit his head on the desk.
Sarah then told Nicole of how she realized the Random Gun was too dangerous given how unpredictable it was, and decided to destroy it. So she left the school and tossed the Random Gun into wet cement at a construction site. She had been followed by Karyn, and now Karyn was with her.
"Wait a minute." Nicole said. She turned away from the phone and toward Reggie and Biff. "Reggie? Biff?"
The black girl and the nine-year old boy nodded. "I didn't want Sarah to destroy the Random Gun. But I couldn't get her to stop." Biff the nine-year old boy said.
"The ambulance came for Mrs. Williams ... or the old man that used to be Mrs. Williams." Reggie said. "They don't know if he's ever going to regain consciousness. He might not even last the week."
Nicole turned back to the phone. "Sarah, we've got a problem. Mrs. Williams might never regain consciousness. But that's not the worst of it. There's another batch of Transformation Guns ... at your father's workplace."
"What?" Sarah's voice on the phone exclaimed.
Nicole told of her meeting with the now-beautiful Becky Rodder, previously one of the fattest girls in the school. She told of how Becky Rodder had made herself into an attractive young lady with the Babe Gun, and of how Gladys Brewer (the other fattest girl in the school) had zapped Nicole with another Fat Gun she had taken from McMillan Tech.
"The craziness is going on at your dad's workplace, too. There seems to be one of each gun here, and one of each gun there, and they're the same kind." Nicole said. "Maybe it's just the Geek Gun's effects causing my imagination to run wild, but do you or your father have any enemies? Anyone capable of planting these Transformation Guns at both the school and McMillan Tech?"
"How should I know?" Sarah said. "For all we know, it has nothing to do with me or my dad. Karyn told me these guns turned up because her friend Jon made a wish."
"A wish?" Nicole asked.
"Yes, his grandfather left him some wishing rock, and he messed up. Big time. Last night, he wished for something interesting to happen, and now look what's happened." Sarah said in a bitter tone.
Nicole normally would have been more skeptical of this claim, but after everything she had seen and experienced, a magical wishing stone didn't seem so unbelievable.
"So what are you going to do?" Nicole asked Sarah.
"Jon wished himself home." Sarah said. "Karyn and I are going to find the scared girl Jon's become and try to get that wishing stone. Maybe then we can turn Biff and the others back to normal."
"We've got the Babe Gun." Nicole said. "Becky Rodder zapped Gladys Brewer with it, and she became a beauty. We snatched the Babe Gun and the second Fat Gun while Gladys was thanking her. We can use it on Melissa ... and me. But there are still other Transformation Guns out there ... here in the school, and at your dad's workplace."
"Keep looking for them. I'll call you again when we've found Jon or that wishing stone." Sarah said. Sarah then ended the call.
Nicole looked around the office. "Okay, I've just heard from Sarah." she said to those in the room with her. "She thinks she can find something that'll turn Biff and Reggie and Brad back to normal. But there are a few things we can do here, too."
Nicole turned to Melissa Smith.
Meanwhile, on the street not far from the school, Sarah and Karyn began pondering their next move. Karyn had told Sarah that they needed to go to Jon's house to find the wishing stone, and Sarah felt it made sense to do that in this situation.
They headed off in the direction of Jon's house.
