Slowly, Sarah rose from her seat. She had never felt so nervous about making a speech as she did now.
"I know that to some of you," she began, taking a look at Kyla Leeson and Jay Duncan as she said it, "I may seem to be a self-centered bitch. And perhaps you're right in a way. I've avoided doing anything I felt might jeopardize my popularity or my standing in school. Such as fraternizing with geeks, nerds, and misfits."
"But despite everything, I have friends. People like Nicole, and Biff, and Melissa, and Reggie here. And then there's their friends, too. And the rest of the cheerleaders. These weird guns are all over the school, and no one is safe from them. I owe it to my friends, and their friends, and everyone, to at least try to do something about this."
"I'm not going to lie to you. This Random Gun is clearly more dangerous than all the other Transformation Guns put together. I'm scared, we're all scared. But I'm the head cheerleader. What example would I be to the other cheerleaders, or to anyone else, if I were to just sit around somewhere safe when the shit hits the fan? That crazy woman upstairs in that classroom has to be stopped. I don't know about you, but I'm not going to just sit around and wait for someone else to save the day."
"Mrs. Williams has to be stopped, no matter the cost." Sarah concluded. "Who's with me?"
"I'm in." said Biff.
"So am I." Nicole said. Reggie and Kyla also raised their hands.
Principal Davison spoke up. "That was a good speech, Miss McMillan. And I appreciate the fact that many people are willing to help you. But I think it's best that only two people accompany you. Because the Random Gun is so dangerous and unpredictable, it's best not to risk more people than absolutely necessary."
"The rest of you can stay down here and help me find the other Transformation Guns. Jay Duncan and Rebecca Fadil still need to track down the 'Goth Gun' user, and there may still be others out there." Principal Davison said.
"And one more thing." the principal said. "We cannot allow you to bring the guns we've already confiscated into this. If something should go wrong, they could fall into the wrong hands. So you will have to use your own resources, or whatever you find up there, to stop Mrs. Williams and confiscate the Random Gun."
There was a short pause.
"I'm going with Sarah." Reggie said. "I already got zapped into a nerd. I don't have much to lose."
"Sarah's been there for me all the time this past year." Biff said. "I'm not going to just let her go into danger unless I'm there to back her up."
"And I..." Nicole began. "Well, I want to go, I really do. But there are other people in trouble with the other Transformation Guns. Just cause it's really crazy up there means we can't ignore everyone else. What about Tiffany, and Amber Levine, and the others? Thanks to the Geek Gun, I know how cliche this is, but we have to split up into teams. But Sarah, I'm with you in spirit."
Melissa Smith had not spoken at all. But now she approached Sarah slowly and looked her in the eye. "Sarah," she said softly. "Kick that bitch's ass."
Brad Stephens, the Asian beauty, nodded.
"I'll at least try." Sarah replied. "And if it's at all possible, I'll bring that Random Gun intact so we can change you into something better than the 'fat' thing, but I can't make any promises."
"Just ... just do your best." Melissa said.
With that, Sarah left the Principal's office, accompanied by Biff and Reggie. They passed by two extra Goths along the way, but otherwise made it upstairs without incident. Now they were looking cautiously down the hallways upstairs as they moved closer to Mrs. Williams' classroom. If anyone else had managed to escape the room, chances were they'd be in the area.
From somewhere down the hall, they heard noises, and shouting.
