"Sherman Girls' Academy."

He continued to explain, "This private school is one of the biggest around and can absorb our excess population. As a private school, it normally requires tuition payments, but because of our participation in this experiment the standard tuition fees will be paid for everyone. As we noted, Peabody has a population of about 2500 and an excess of 1500. Since only half the school is made up of girls, and the excess is more than half, we normally couldn't send all of the excess to Sherman."

"But", he continued, "this is where the experiment comes in. New Morphic Adaption-based technology allows male students to be changed into girls in order to attend Sherman. Students, both male and female, will be randomly assigned to Sherman and will have to accept a change in sex. Parental consent is required but Sherman is a very highly rated school and provides many opportunities, both extracurricular and in-class, that may not be available to students of Peabody. All additional expenses such as mandatory school uniforms will be paid for by the government, plus a certain amount for out-of-school expenses such as makeup and everyday clothes."

Jon wondered if his parents would consent. He knew the answer, of course; otherwise it wouldn't be interesting. He wondered if football players and other people whose activities needed them to be physically male would form a girls' football team or just convince their parents not to agree.

It was followed by a question and answer session. One student asked the most obvious question: being changed back. The reply: they wanted to reduce the frequency of changes out of fear that it could cause damage the body. Younger students would be changed back after graduation; older students who are due to graduate very soon would be changed back after a year. They won't be changed back for vacations.

Another question was about names. To avoid confusion, students were advised to use their own name, if appropriate for girls, or a similar-sounding name, if not. However this wasn't a rule. Technically their legal name wouldn't change, so they don't have to all get new driver licenses and credit cards (for those who have them).

And then was the question about how the transform works. Basically, it changed the person into a girl as if they were born one. Students were reminded that things such as long fingernails, long hair, and ear piercings aren't inborn and boys without those things who became girls would still be without them.

As for when it would start... any student whose parents agree could go immediately.
