West Texas High School received news the next day that Rosaria had been killed, and Karyn's family in Colorado were notified as well. Jon, sitting in the bleachers during the assembly announcement in a jean skirt, tight blouse, and boots was stunned... her best friend, killed! It didn't seem real to her. She cried and tried to come to terms with the tragedy, but couldn't. Karyn had been so sure of a magic wishing stone... Jon never really believed her, but if it existed, amybe she could use it to bring Karyn back to life. She had to find a way to get to Colorado and search for the stone.
"How are you doing, Jon," Ms Aoyama, the school counselor, asked her. "Is there anything I can do to help?"
"Thinking quickly, Jon replied, "Yes, there is one thing, if it's not too much trouble to ask... I'd really like to go to Karyn's funeral back in Colorado Springs. Is there a way you could arrange for me to go to it?"
"Sure Jon, I understand. I'll take care of everything," the young Asian woman replied, with a comforting smile. "Would Sarah also like to attend?"
"I'm not sure, they weren't very close before the swap, but maybe make preparations for Sarah and then let him decide."
Jon saw Sarah later that day and decided to tell him about Karyn's story of a wishing stone, and see if he'd go with her to the funeral. Sarah wasn't happy at all with the life of Joe-Bob, so he readily agreed to take a break from it and go to Colorado Springs. A wishing stone sounded crazy, but if it turned out to be true, he'd certainly want to get his hands on it...
