Jen Gibson walked out of the gym and stepped into her mother's waiting car. It was an exciting day today: one of the level four girls had gotten her handstand on beam.
She was in the middle of letting the details of practice flow from her lips when her cell phone rang. The screen said "Unknown Caller," but she picked up the phone anyway.
"Hello."
"Jen Gibson?"
"Yes," she said, "Who may I ask is this?"
"I'm Coach," there was an audible pause, "Molyneux. From your school."
Jen was a bit confused. "Hi, coach. Um, what can I help you with?"
"More than you know," Sam said. "You probably don't remember this, but you made me a promise a few hours ago. A promise involving a magic stone." The last two words were said in a whisper.
"How do you know about that?" Jen asked in shock.
"My name used to be Sarah McMillan, I used to be one of your friends. I don't know what you did, but you told me yesterday that you made a stupid wish and that you were going to fix it, but... well, it's complicated."
At the name 'Sarah McMillan,' things clicked for Jen and she started remembering bits and pieces. "Alright, alright. I believe you. Where should we meet?"
"I don't know where your house is," Sam said, "and I'm not entirely sure where I live right now. So just come down to the field behind school. I'll be waiting."
"Okay. I'll be there soon as I can."
