The two girls slowly collected the rest of their group: Kyla, Karyn, Jon, and Renee. Sarah was a bit surprised at the last (as was Jon, who had heard Sam's wish and remembered the old reality), but after a few moments remembered that Renee was a new student this year, having just moved from Martinique. Since her English was not too good, she quickly bonded with Sarah, who she could speak to in French. Sarah had apparently brought Renee into the group of friends in this reality, whereas in the previous reality Renee had had to fend for herself.
As the group was talking, however, they were interrupted by a giant hairy arm wrapping itself around Sarah's waist. Biff bent down to kiss his girlfriend, and she melted in his embrace. Pieces kept falling into place for Sarah, and she couldn't be happier.
Biff even stayed to chat with her other friends instead of running off with his football buddies like he used to do. Sarah didn't understand it. The biggest surprise, particularly for Jon, was when Biff came over to him and slapped him on the shoulder, asking if he wanted to pump iron with him at the gym later on. It took Sarah a moment to realize that, as a gymnast, Jon probably worked out just as much as the football players. It took Jon a moment longer to realize that, as a friend of his girlfriend, Biff was probably now on friendly terms with Jon.
She could have the best of both worlds, Sarah realized. She was still part of the popular crowd, by virtue of being a cheerleader and being the quarterback's girlfriend, but she was still friends with all the "new" people in her life.
Then the first bell rang and the seven students scattered to their first period classes. Sarah broke off with Renee and Karyn, and headed off to Mrs. Stetson's pre-calculus class.
