Jon looked over at Sarah. She was acting strange. Was this the effect of his wish? Turn one of his best friends crazy? How could he be so stupid as to make a wish like that. "Something interesting." Now Sarah was getting wild headaches, forgetting the most basic facts about her friends, and even trying to wear makeup! Jon had noticed, but he hadn't mentioned anything. He didn't want to stress Sarah out even further.
He had to admit, though, that the makeup looked pretty good on her. Out of place, sure, but whoever had done it (it couldn't possibly have been Sarah herself), was definitely an expert.
The whole thing made Jon feel guilty as hell. He resolved right then that he'd have to tell Sarah about the stone at some point, and do whatever he could to fix the situation, or at least make it easier on Sarah. He wasn't even entirely sure what was going on, but he'd find out.
The bell rang, and Jon realized he hadn't paid any attention to the second half of the lecture. That was okay, though. Lunch was next period, and he'd have an opportunity to get some more information from Sarah, even though he didn't want to tell her about the stone in front of Kyla and Jay.
