Zoe bolted upright and quickly walked towards Jon's window, which looked down onto the neighbor's yard. She stared at it, one eye twitching.
"I... there's something in that house. Something." She said to no one. IN her hand the stone was still warm, and in her head she could hear... hear something. Like a song it rung in her mind, telling a story or calling to her. Whichever it was... it was distracting.
"I need to find out what is going on," Zoe said, looking down at her hand and the stone. "You made my wish come true, didn't you? That I understood what was going on. And yet..." She wrapped her fingers around the stone. Her nails were black and purple stripped inside a fishnet glove. "I wish I knew how to use you." She said and suddenly she knew. Zoe shook her headache away.
She could hear it in her head. It wasn't knowledge but rather a feeling, a feeling that somewhere inside that house something was dangerously off. She could recall her conversation with Sydney and she now seemed to grasp at something but it would fade away before she could summon it. Sydney's behaviour, beyond the nudist part, was definitively off. Just like her brother and her mother.
"I wish-"
"Zoe!" Jon interrupted her.
Zoe jumped, bringing the stone close to her chest and turning to see her naked brother. She immediately turned away.
"What the hell are you doing in my room!?" Jon said, walking in, not removing his eyes from his sister.
"Uhm... I... Looking at the neighbors' house. Just curious." She said, moving her hands into the pocket of her hoodie. This was his stone, and she hoped to keep it hers until she figured out what was going on.
Jon smiled and walked over to stand next to her. "They're nice people. Should probably go and visit." He said, his tone sounding oddly sweet, as if he were talking about very old friends.
"Yeah, maybe I will." Zoe said and then fell silent. "Anyway!" She added suddenly. "See you." She said and quickly left the room before anything - anything! - could happen.
