Zoe knocked on her brother's door, but no one opened it. "Jon! Open up!" she yelled. But still no one answered.
She thought for a moment, realizing that Jon probably wasn't there, so she tried to turn the doorknob. The door was unlocked.
She walked inside and saw that Jon was definitely not there. Did her mom lie about him being there, or did she just not know?
As she took a quick glance around the room, she spotted something. She picked it up and looked at it. It was a slightly metallic stone with a reddish hue. Her brother didn't have a rock collection. Why did he have this stone?
She shook her head. She had more important things to worry about than this. She had to figure out what was happening with her family. She sighed, then (not realizing that she was holding a wishing stone) said "I wish ..."
