Jon forced marched herself away from her house until she was sure she was out of it's line of sight before collapsing into a ball and sobbing uncontrollably.
There go her hormones, Zoe thought to herself. It was like poor Jon was going through puberty all over again.
She put a comforting hand upon her newly-minted sister's back. "Don't worry," she said encouragingly. "Don't take it personally. Mom's just surprised is all. Let's be honest; you were always her favourite...she's just...lashing out. It'll probably take her a while to accept the idea, to accept that you're a woman now. Give her a few days."
"I don't want to wait a few days!" Jon whined, looking up at her sister. Her tears served only to magnify the gothic effect of her make-up. "She hates me! What if everybody I used to know hates me? I don't even know who I am anymore!"
"You've got me," Zoe said. "I could never abandon my sister...in fact, I think I prefer you now. We've probably spent more time together in the last six hours than we have in the last two years." It was true; Jon and Zoe had been close as children, but they had largely drifted apart after Jon (and then Zoe) went through puberty. Now that they were both members of the same gender, though, they had rapidly grown closer together. Closer even than they had ever been before.
Sisterhood is a beautiful thing, Jon decided. She'd never had a brother, but she doubted men had anything quite like it.
"It's too bad everybody doesn't feel the way that you do," Jon said.
"Give them time," Zoe said. "You can't force it."
Jon paused, feeling the weight of the stone in her hand.
"Actually," she said. "I can."
Zoe looked puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Jon held up the stone. "This is a wishing stone," she explained. "I got it from grandpa."
"What does it do?" Zoe asked, not seeing where this was going.
"Grants wishes."
Oh dear, Zoe thought to herself. The hormones have destroyed her brain. "Is that so," she said, letting on none of it.
"Yes...I think it's how I created GPAD."
"You...created it?"
"Yes, you see, when I wish something it changes reality so that it was always true to anyone not within earshot."
"Uh huh."
"I'll prove it." Jon remembered her awful haircut. "I wish I had long, raven black hair."
And so it happened.
"Holy SHIT!" Zoe exclaimed. "What the HELL?"
"It granted my wish. Anyone you meet will think I always had it."
"That's...woah." Zoe said. "I...I..."
"Yeah, it's pretty incredible. But once something is wished, it's unchangeable."
"I see."
"Now then... I wish that mom and all of my friends would accept me for who I now am."
