Jon's face flushed bright crimson as he turned to meet his sister eye to eye. All of the feminine confidence that he had been feeling a few seconds earlier suddenly evaporated for the first time he just wanted to return to his old self and wish this whole ugly incident away.
"Z-Zoe!" He sputtered, frantically pulling the choker off of his neck. "I--I'm sorry! I just..." (only as he spoke did Jon notice that his voice was cracking, just as it had done during puberty; only now, it appeared to be cracking upwards).
Zoe just stood there calmly, a small smile playing across her black-pained lips.
"I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me--"
"Jon," she interrupted.
He started pulling-off the gauntlets, apparently not hearing her. "I promise it will never happen again..."
"Jon," Zoe said again louder this time.
"It's just I feel this strange--"
"Jon!" she blurted at last.
This time her brother (?) took notice.
"It's alright!" Zoe said, placing a comforting hand upon Jon's shoulder.
"You mean... you're not angry?"
"Jon... I'm absolutely delighted!"
"You are?" Jon asked, some of his former confidence returning.
"Yes! I've always wanted a sister, and I've suspected that you had GPAD since I saw you in Hot Topic yesterday, and then when you barfed your guts out last night..."
"GPAD?" Jon cut in.
Zoe rolled her eyes. "Really Jon, you can be so thick sometimes. GPAD. Gender and Personality Alteration Disease. You know; the talk of the internet? Certainly makes life more exciting. You're turning into a girl, Jon!" She indicated to what he was wearing. "And all sides point to a gothic one!"
Jon had, of course, suspected as much, but to actually hear someone say it out loud excited him in a way he didn't understand.
"Don't worry Jon," his sister whispered. "I'm going to help you through it... every step of the way."
