They walked back to the car and Jon checked the fuel gauge. It was up to FULL, meaning that the gas he just put in didn't disappear too.
"So, now what?" Zoe asked.
That was beginning to sound like their catch phrase. They just kept saying it.
"I'm not sure," Jon answered.
"Hey! Hey you!" a voice yelled at them. They looked at where the voice was coming from. There was a two-floor office building across the street. It wasn't there before. A man was leaning out one of the second-floor windows.
"This place is getting weirder and weirder," Sarah said. "Where did that building come from?"
"And where did the gas station go?" Zoe added.
"Hey! I'm talking to you!" the man yelled.
"What do you want?" Jon yelled to the guy.
"Do you know the way out of here?" the man asked.
The four of them looked at each other. They were always the ones asking that question. And now a stranger was asking them that question. It was kind of funny, in a way.
"Well?" the man yelled down at them.
"No. Sorry," Jon answered.
The man looked disappointed, then backed out of the window and back into the building. Then the building disappeared, leaving corn stalks in its place.
Sarah was right, this place was getting weirder.
