"Come on, let's go back," Jon finally said.
The three girls were waiting for him to say that ever since they saw the wall that was in their way. They started to get into the car when suddenly they heard a voice say "So, you're just giving up, huh?"
It wasn't the old man. They all had heard his voice many times already. No, this was someone else. Someone that Jon had met once already.
It was the young boy. He was sitting on a ledge that was attached to the wall. It wasn't there before, so Jon guessed that it was put there for the boy, just like the tree was put in the corn field. It was somewhere to sit.
"You decided to come back?" Jon yelled up to him.
"Well, I was getting kind of bored. I was curious of how far you had come." He smiled. "Pretty good ... so far."
"What do you mean by so far? There's a wall in the way. There's no more road."
"Maybe. Maybe not."
"Are you saying that it's an illusion?" Jon hadn't thought about that. The old man led Jon to believe that the corn fields were an illusion. So why not this wall? But, then again, this boy could have been tricking him.
The boy didn't say anything.
Jon turned around and said to everyone "Get in the car." He looked back at the boy, but he was gone, and so was the ledge he sat on.
"Finally, we're going back," Sarah said, thinking about going back to the cabin and sitting next to the fireplace.
Jon sat behind the wheel and took the car off of PARK.
