Was that smoke?
Karyn's eyes went wide. She had just been sleeping in her bed, but now she was laying on the side of a road, one which seemed to be in the middle of some farmland.
Fortunately, she was wearing a T-shirt and pajama bottoms (which was a lot more than what Jon was wearing), so she was somewhat confortable.
She stood up. "Hello?!" she yelled. She heard her voice echo into the distance. It was odd, because sounds don't echo like that when there's a lot of space. Only when there's an enclosed space, like a cavern or something.
In the distance, there was a loud boom.
"Don't worry, little missy. You two are gonna be fine," a voice said. Karyn didn't know it, but it was the voice of the old man. The farmer.
Karyn looked around, but no one was there.
Except ... there was someone moving along the road, off in the distance.
"Hello?!" she yelled in that direction.
The figure stopped. It was faint, but she heard a voice yell "Karyn?!"
Karyn knew that voice. It was Jon.
She ran towards the figure.
