Jon was getting a little tired of all of this. First the farmer, with all of his cryptic answers, and now the boy in the tree. It seemed that the only people he encountered didn't really help him that much.
Jon kept walking.
After about an hour, he stopped and looked around. It seemed that it should have been getting later in the day by then, but it was just as sunny as it was when he woke up in the corn field.
A timeless day.
Jon shivered. But not because it was cold. This whole situation was insane. No sun, no time, no people (except for the old man and the young boy), and no indication of civilization, besides the neverending road.
Another boom in the distance.
"What is that?" Jon said aloud.
He was half-expecting an answer. Maybe the farmer or the boy would come back. Of course, even if they did, he probably wouldn't be able to get any answers out of them. Really, he didn't want them back for the answers. He wanted them back so he wouldn't be alone. I wished so badly that Karyn could be there. It would be nice to have some company in this crazy place.
