Jon was about to turn away from the family portrait, but then he saw it shimmer. When the photo came into focus again, he saw that there was another change. The Asian Zoe looked kind of carefree before, almost like a hippie girl, but now she looked very conservative and serious. And a little pissed off too, like she was mad that she had to be part of the family picture.
It was obvious that yet another change had happened. But he still couldn't figure out why Zoe was Asian and Mikey was black. Maybe he should consult the stone. He could figure this all out with just one wish, right?
He turned back towards his room, when suddenly his cellphone began to ring. He took it out of his pocket and answered it, not waiting to see who was calling.
"Hello?" he asked and then began to get dizzy. Why was he feeling like this? Then it occurred to him. He forgot to exclude himself from the wish! And now he was switching personalities/lifestyles with whoever was calling him! He was so freaked out about what was happening, though, that he disconnected the call right away. But that was a mistake. If he had just waited, a moment later he would have heard the person on the other end of the call say who they were.
