He was stunned as he walked out from his room, coming upon an open study directly across the hall. Great wooden doors were open and Jon walked into the room. It was filled with a full set of maroon furniture and a whole wall of bookshelves filled to the limit.
It had also come with a maid, a cute one at that. But she was resting on the couch, her comfortable pink sneakers on the ground in front of her. She wore a simple pink checkered dress that fell almost to her knees and tan hose. Her blonde hair was done up in a quick pony tail. Cleaning supplies rested nearby. She looked familiar somehow, but Jon couldn't place it at first.
She was reading 1984 and was deeply into it and didn't see Jon come in. Her blue eyes flicked up at him for just a moment and widened.
"Oh, Jon, I'm sorry. I was just taking a break." She stood up so quickly she almost lost her balance.
And then Jon remembered her face: it was Sarah McMillian! In a ridiculous irony, the stone had made Sarah a maid! He thought of all the cruelties Sarah had inflicted on him and thought how he could repay them, but his good-natured side got the best of him.
Jon waved his hand, "It's all right, Sarah, no one can work all the time."
They both felt dizzy then . . .
