Consort Mao Gengxin had her guāndāo on her. I stood and looked at Wang Jing. He smiled knowingly at me. I looked at him blankly and shook my head as I went down to the stage. I was there just the day before. I had my jian and it was not too long before I got to the stage. "Are you ready? Since you were previously pregnant, I will let you go with light bruises. If you apologize to me and repent for your insolence, of course." I smiled warmly and said "My noble Consort, do not worry about me. You can all the strength and prowess you have. You will need it to chase off death." Before she could question that, Wang Jing said "Begin." I ran to her and tried a horizontal slice to her chest. She blocked it, but barely. She got into a more aggressive stance. "That is no where near enough, Yawen." she said. I did not let up on her, and forced her on the defensive. He was able to get some good hits on me as she was a master. That did nothing as I simply had too much health for her to overcome. Eventually, she was thrown against the proverbial ropes. I decided to play with her for a bit.
I cut at her clothes as she tried to evade me. Her once expensive robes were now tatters as she ran. Mao Gengxin could read the writing on the wall. Blood was dripping from her body and her attacks that did land did almost nothing to me, but I did not let her escape. I kept slicing at her and kicking her until she fell on the ground in a heap. It was clear that she could not fight back. Before she was able to concede, I kicked her in the mouth and knocked her head back where it make a thud as it bounced of the ground. I put my foot on her neck as I sheathed my blade. She clawed at my foot as she struggled to take a breath. I looked up at my emperor with a crazed smile on purpose. He was speechless. It had been 10 full minutes of destruction. It was not just him. Everyone was silent. They stopped cheering after 5 minutes of the match. I drew the jian and slashed it down. It made a loud clang as I locked blades with her guāndāo. Her face was turning purple as I held of her two handed attack with only one of mine. I looked back to the royal box as if it was nothing. It really was not to me.
Ai was the one that jumped up. "Stop it! Can't you see you're killing her, you lunatic!" "I can't. To please my lord who enjoys fights to the death, I can not disappoint him. Only a declaration of victory can stop me, Mother Empress, Empress Dowager Ai." I said, still on her neck. Wang Jing was still stunned and Ai glared at him. Hua Mei was also horrified. Ai was the one that called the match in a panic. "As Empress Dowager, I call the match a draw. I refuse to acknowledge a fiend like you a victor here!" she said. I lifted my foot and snatched her weapon away. I broke it over my knee. I then bowed to the royal box and then to the crowd. I made my way up to the concubine gallery and took my place. When the event was over, Wang Jing demanded to see me. He was furious. "How could you do that to her!? She was half dead when the imperial doctors got to her." he demanded. I smirked and said "How could you do that to Consort Mao Gengxin?" He was flabbergasted by that. He sputtered before he said "Stop talking that nonsense, Dabriel. I did nothing to her! This is all your fault!"
Rolling my eyes, I said "You doing nothing almost got Mao Gengxin killed." He looked like he wanted to argue when I held up an arm to stop him. He went quiet and let me talk. It was wise of him. "You knew that I was a higher angel well before Mao Gengxin ever challenged me to the match. You could have done anything you wanted to stop this match from ever happening. You could have called it at anytime. Why did Empress Dowager Ai have more compassion to her than you? Why did she have to save her? Reflect on that." I said. He looked down and I turned to leave. "Wait." he said and I stopped moving. "Why?" he asked. "I told you to reflect on that. When you relfect on it, the answer will make you a better ruler if you work on that weakness." I then left. I vistied the recuperating consort. I healed her when no one was looking. It was not fully, but enough to ensure she would survive all the damage done. The Mao clan demanded punishment, but Wang Jing told them I was in the archery tournament. "It is not good for a clan to punish a opponent for a draw. I see no problem." Wang Wuying said.
