Karyn decided to take a shower to try to clean herself up. Geek Karyn rarely did it, which contributed to her acne-filled face and greasy hair.
After taking her shower, she looked at herself in the mirror.
"Much better," she said, then she brushed her hair. She looked around for acne cream, but couldn't find any. So she ended up just using soap and water instead. It didn't much help. The acne wasn't horrible, but it was noticeable. She didn't want to go out in public like this, but the geek Karyn did it all the time. She didn't care that much about her appearance. But Karyn did.
After she brushed her teeth, she put her glasses back on and went back to her bedroom, where she picked out something to wear. First, she put on her underwear and socks. Then she picked out an outfit. Her closet was filled with nothing but conservative outfits. Blouses and skirts. Off to the side, however, she did spot a few T-shirts and pairs of jeans. She grabbed one of the T-shirts and pair of jeans and put them on. The shirt was a STAR TREK T-shirt, yellow lettering on black. She put on the pair of jeans and looked in the mirror.
"I am so a geek," she stated. She looked a little better, with her shampooed hair and cleaner teeth.
There was a knock at the door. "Karyn?" It was Jay.
She opened the door.
"What's taking you so long? I ..." His mouth fell open. "What happened to your hair?"
"I took a shower. Don't you like it?"
"Well, yeah. Actually."
"Is this outfit okay?" she asked.
"Yeah. I like it when you wear that shirt."
Karyn blushed. But then she wondered why she did that. More memories flowed into her mind. Geek Karyn and Jay were close friends. But geek Karyn always hoped that it could be more than that.
"Are you ready to go now?" Jay asked.
"Sure. I just have to put on my shoes and we can go."
"Okay. I'll wait outside."
Karyn turned around and found a pair of sneakers. She put them on and left to go on her trip with her "new" friends.
