The next place Jon checked was Zoe's bedroom. Without bothering to knock, he walked into her bedroom, immediately getting turned off by what he saw.
His sister was sitting on the floor next to her bed, thoroughly engrossed in a new comic book. Her room had changed drastically, and was now littered with action figures, trading cards, video games, and comic books. Posters of metal bands were replaced with posters of anime characters. Skulls were replaced with toy spaceships, and her previously dark and brooding self-portrait photos had been replaced with brighter ones, showing her in a junior soccer uniform.
Zoe herself had changed greatly as well. Gone were her thickly layered dark makeup and piercings. Instead, her natural light brown hair color was plainly visible, although it looked like she had barely bothered to comb her hair that morning, let alone style it. Her nails were no longer covered in black polish but short and stubby, looking as if they'd been chewed on repeatedly (a nasty habit Mikey had apparently donated to her). Her usual black corset and ripped skirt had been replaced by a blue t-shirt with an anime character on it and a pair of dirty jeans.
Jon remembered how her room used to look and suddenly missed it, even though he didn't before his wish. Zoe was so cool before. Now, she was nothing but a fucking moron more interested in stupid comics than anything that really mattered, like studying up on the occult and listening to metal music.
"What a fucking waste," Jon muttered, as he left Zoe's room.
After he closed the door, Zoe finally looked up. But Jon was already gone. "Hello? Is someone there?"
