Jon rarely visited Leonard, even though he lived right next door. But Jon knew his mother well enough, mostly from mowing her yard in the summer when he needed a little extra cash. So, when the Drullers' front door opened, he noticed that something was definitely different about Leonard's mother. She looked tired and worn out, which was quite the opposite from her generally cheery mood, from the previous reality. Jon assumed that Leonard was a Goth since he had Zoe's personality. Perhaps it was that change that made Leonard's mother the way she was now.
"Oh. Hi, Jon. I don't need your help in the yard today," she said.
"Actually, I came to see Leonard."
"Excuse me?" she asked, looking at Jon strangely. "Why do you want to see my son?"
It was a question that he couldn't answer. Not without sounding loony, anyways.
"Never mind," Jon said. He supposed he could just wait until the next day at school to see Leonard's change.
As Mrs. Drullers began to shut the door, Jon heard a voice inside. "Who the fuck was that?" Through the opening of the doorway, Jon saw a fat Goth boy with spiky black hair and piercings. Then the door was shut completely. Was that really the new Leonard? Maybe it was a good idea that he hadn't met him.
