Deciding to check on his sister first, Jon knocked on Zoe's door.
He heard a commotion inside that sounded like she watching a movie. The sounds and music stopped, presumably put on pause, and the door opened. Zoe had considerably changed. She looked at least 30 or 40 pounds heavier. That would have been the most noticable thing, if she hadn't been a Goth before. Now she wore a collared shirt, beige miniskirt, and thick-rimmed glasses. Her hair, which used to be dyed black, was now its natural brown color. She didn't have the acne problem that Leonard had, but Jon noticed that she wore no makeup.
"Hi, Jon." She snorted. "I was just watching Star Trek 2. You wanna watch?"
"Uhhh. No thanks. I just wanted to ..." He peered inside her room. Posters of metal bands had been replaced with Star Trek and other sci-fi posters. Her other Goth items were also gone, replaced by Star Trek collector's items and sci-fi books and DVD's.
It was quite obvious that his sister was now a nerd.
"I just wanted to see what you were up to. That's all."
"Oh. Okay. Well, if you want, later on we can watch Star Trek 3."
"No, that's okay. I'll probably be doing something with Karyn."
"Oh. Okay, fine," Zoe said.
Jon left the room and she closed the door. In the hallway, Jon could hear the music and sounds coming from her movie again.
Jon was overwelmed by Zoe's transformation. But he wondered what had become of Leonard. So, he decided to go pay his nextdoor neighbor a visit.
