As Jon approached Karyn's bedroom, he suddenly smelled something burning. Thinking that something was on fire and that Karyn might be in danger, a quickened his pace and abruptly entered the room.
Immediately, he noticed that there was no fire (a least, nothing out of control) and Karyn was in no danger of burning to death. At least, not yet, he thought to himself, thinking of those old stories of witches being burned at the stake.
Yes, that was right. Karyn now looked like a witch. She wore a tattered black dress, red corset, fishnet gloves and black lace-up boots with a 3-inch heel. Her hair was long and dyed black with red streaks, her skin was pale, and she wore black eyeliner. Her general appearance seemed very much like his sister's friend Athena. And Jon was sure that that was whose personality Karyn now had.
"Shut the door, Jon," she said. "I'm brewing up a new potion."
