Just at that moment, Jon's Mom (Linda) came walking down the stairs and into the living room.
"Jim, please. Don't watch so close. Scooch back some more," she told her husband. Then she turned to Jon. "Hi, Jon. How was your day?"
"Uh ... okay."
"Jim, I mean it! Scoot yourself back," Linda ordered.
Jim whined. "Oh, okay." He moved back about a foot, then continued watching his cartoon.
"I'm just gonna make hot dogs tonight. Is that okay?" she asked Jon.
"Uh ... sure."
Linda walked into the kitchen to make dinner, as Jon sat on the couch watching his father watch his cartoons.
He wondered how his mom dealt with all of this. Was she fine with her husband acting like a child? How did she feel about her 10-year old son acting like a 40-year old man (which Jon assumed he was now)? And speaking of Mikey, where was he?
