About thirty minutes later, Jon heard voices in the hallway which diverted his attention away from Zoe's comic books. The voices belonged to Mikey and Athena. Apparently, they were leaving.
Good riddance, Jon thought. He hoped he never had to see Mikey for the rest of the night. Images of his brother having sex with Athena were still burned into his memory.
But then he remembered where Mikey was probably going. It was that party he talked about on the phone. Suddenly, he worried for his brother, despite his vulgar actions. No matter how gothic or rebellious he might be, Mikey was still his little brother. And Jon felt obligated to look out for him ... even if Mikey may not want him to.
"Jon, you're not paying any attention," Zoe complained.
"Uh ... sorry, Zoe. Listen, could you wait right here? I just need to go do something. Then I'll be right back."
Zoe shrugged her shoulders, then said "Okay."
Jon got up off of Zoe's bed and left her bedroom.
